Coloured Corn Syrup

We put out some interesting materials for the children to explore at the art center. We made some beautiful shades of corn syrup using various combinations of food colouring. We invited the children to use droppers to drop the colours onto thick pieces of bristol board. The results were stunning!

Grasping and pinching the droppers provided great fine motor practice and control for the children as the syrup was thick and quite challenging to pick up with the droppers and distribute all over the paper.

And like most art activities, the corn syrup dropping turned into a finger painting exploration!
