We enjoyed our visit to the Riverside Library where we learned all about this valuable resource.
I am a Reggio Emilia inspired Full Day Kindergarten teacher and mother to three young children. This blog is meant as a communication tool for the families of our children and as a learning tool for the many educators who follow us. Please feel free to comment on posts and participate in our collective understanding of emergent curriculum.

Steel Sponge Painting
In one of our stories we discussed steel wool. The children thought it was so funny to think of wool made of steel.
Today we encouraged the children to explore painting with steel sponges. The result was amazing!
The children used great action words to describe their painting - dabbing, streaking, swiping, and stroking.

Flower Shop!
We are turning our drama center into a flower shop and would appreciate any donations of materials to support our play including plastic containers and vases, fake flowers, aprons, order pads, ribbon and fabric, and anything else you think might interest our children. Thank you for your support.

Outdoor Sidewalk Paint
We made sidewalk paint out of cornstarch, water, and food colouring today. It was so much fun and the children were interested in how the texture of the paint became chalky when it dried.

Puzzle Experts
"It was so easy to build. We just matched it like a matching game."
Graphic Organizers
We've been exploring different graphic organizers during our whole group time to help us organize information. Today we used an idea cloud to show what we know about seeds. Why don't you ask your child about this and perhaps use an idea cloud together in order to practice some writing at home?
