Planting Seeds

We have been reading many stories about seeds and how plants grow. To help children experience the joy of gardening we set up a planting station in the classroom today. 

There were five choices of vegetables to choose from - beans, cucumbers, peas, carrots, and tomatoes. 

The children were responsible for filling their cup with soil, choosing what type of seed they wanted to plant, planting it, and giving it some water. 

We hope to see some sprouts growing when we return from after the Easter weekend!

The Chicks Hatched!

Much excitement today as the eggs in the incubator hatched! 

Bake Sale

The Grade 8 classes will be holding a bake sale on Wednesday to raise money for their end of the year trip. Students are  invited to bring in money as we will visit the bake sale in the morning. 

Spring Playscape

Our light table was busy with signs of spring today!  Flowers and butterflies were everywhere!

It was fun to engage in a bit of imaginative play at this playscape. Others sorted the materials by size and colour.

What is this?

We placed an interesting artifact from our yard on the science table today and invited the children to explore it and make guesses as to what they thought it might be. 

The children used magnifying glasses to get a closer look. 

They then recorded their ideas on a communal piece of paper. 

Spring Time Fun!

This weather has been amazing and the children are enjoying their time outside.
