Kids on the Block

We had a special presentation today with Kids on the Block. Puppets helped us explore topics of personal safety including when to call 911, and how to respond if approached by a stranger. Asking your child about the presentation and reinforcing what to do if faced with any of these situations would be an excellent follow up conversation to have with your child. 

A Visit with Officer Chapman

We were so lucky to visit with one of our parents today. Officer Chapman spoke with our children about staying safe and what a police officer's job involves. The children were able to ask her questions, try on some of her uniforms, sit in the patrol car and even speak on the loud speaker! At the end of her visit they were presented with junior officer certificates. Thank you Officer Chapman!

Electrical Safety

We had an entertaining presentation from Enwin regarding electrical safety around home and the neighbourhood. Why don't you ask your child to share with you some of the ways we learned to stay safe?

Ambulance!

Mr. Basinski brought the ambulance to school on Thursday for the children to see! We were so excited! Before we went outside to check out the vehicle, Mr. Basinski spent time explaining all the special equipment that he uses for his job and reading us a story about staying safe.

Once outside we got to go through the ambulance. The children were very interested in all the specialized equipment that Mr. Basinski uses when driving the ambulance and in how the ambulance looked and sounded with the lights and siren on!
