Rainy weather is always perfect for looking for creepy crawly things in our yard. On Friday we went on a worm hunt to find some for exploration on our light table.
We found one large worm and one small worm. The children had so many ideas for who these worms might be. They finally agreed that they thought the large worm was the mom and the small worm her baby.
Placing the worms in a clear container on the light table illuminated them and allowed us to see inside their bodies. The children noticed what appeared to be a filled area and had many guesses for what might be inside the worm's stomach including dirt!
